    A mobile crane operator is responsible for operating mobile cranes, which are versatile lifting machines mounted on wheels or crawlers, used to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment in construction, manufacturing, and other industries.

  • Typical Salary Range

    Typical entry level positions start around $40,000 per year while highly skilled and experienced operators can make more than $100,000 per year.

  • Typical Duties/Responsibilities:

    Understanding lifting capacities, equipment capabilities, lifting parameters and restraints to safely and accurately lift loads to specified locations. Mobile crane operators also perform routine maintenance on equipment and adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure efficient operations.

  • Typical Experience/Training:

    At least 18 Years Old. Typically receives training and hands-on experience prior to taking a required certification exam. Typically has previous experience and/or knowledge as rigger and signalperson. Usually has or obtains a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Certification for mobile cranes required.
